The traditional tjalk barge Ouderzorg was built in 1914, on wharf De Piip in Drachten.
After a drastic renovation that gave her the right features for sailing as a charter ship, she joined the fleet of Rederij Vooruit. Little draft makes her a perfect choice for those who want to explore the shallow waters of Friesland.
Skippers Niklas and Anna love sailing the Wadden Sea. As an ambassador of the Wad, Anna can tell you everything about the beautiful and foremost remarkable Dutch nature. And should you catch any clams or prawns, simply ask your skipper to serve you up a nice seafood fry afterwards.
Sailing with the Ouderzorg truly is one big adventure. An adventure that starts as soon as you step aboard!
A high railing surrounds the deck and wide gangways make it a safe ship for families travelling with small children. Sitting down in the spacious seating area, really puts you right into the action of sailing and offers great views over the water.
The modern day room offers all sorts of entertainment, such as a radio, a cd-player, books and a lot of games to choose from. Central heating and a wood stove keep the room to a pleasent temperature and can be turned up whenever it gets too cold inside.
Each cabin has a sink with cold running water, a reading light and storage space. A little port hole can be opened for a breeze of fresh air and central heating adds to your comfort. Duvets are included, you do not have to bring your own sleeping bag.
In the ship’s kitchen below deck, you can find a 5 burner stove, a fridge (150 litres) and a sink. Also all necessary cooking utensils like pots, pans, plates, cutlery and glasses are at your disposal.
In addition, the Ouderzorg has its own on board sanitary facilities of 2 toilets and 1 shower.
All cabins with running water, all cabins with central heating.
