The beautiful clipper Mermaid will take you on a memorable sailing trip over the Waddensea, Lake IJssel and the Frisian Lakes.
Dutch charter company Rederij Vooruit offers a wide range of traditional sailing ships for you to choose from. Contact us for further information.
Built as a cargo ship in 1907, the Mermaid served a long career as a transporter over water. A drastic overhaul in the year 1990 gave her the right features for sailing as charter ship and she has done so ever since.
The Mermaid is one of the most solid ships of our fleet and promises adventurous sailing. So step aboard this impressive vessel and see for yourself!
A spacious seating area with a large table welcomes all to sit down and take in the spectacular views over the Wadden Sea, Lake IJssel and the Frisian Lakes. Together with high railing surrounding the deck and wide gangways, the Mermaid is an excellent choice for those who want to sail with kids.
A tent covers the deck when rain should fall of shadow is needed.
The cosy day room is equipped with entertainment such as a radio, a cd-player, a television, a DVD-player, a library and games. You can turn up the central heating whenever it gets too cold inside, which means the Mermaid can also be booked off-season.
Each cabin has its own sink with hot and cold running water, a reading light and storage space. A little port hole can be opened for a breeze of fresh air and central heating keeps the bedrooms warm.
The ship’s kitchen offers numerous possibilities for cooking your own snacks and meals during the sailing trip. Here, a 6 burner stove, a large oven, 2 fridges, a freezer unit and a coffee machine are available. Also all necessary cooking utensils such as pots, pans, plates, cutlery and glasses are at your disposal.
The Mermaid has on board sanitary facilities; 3 toilets as well as 3 showers.
To add to your comfort, the ship does not have to be docked in a port when you want to use the restroom.
All cabins with running water, all cabins with central heating.
