Let the classic charm of sailing ship Mars make you experience sailing like you have never felt before!
From the year 1924, this Groningen built ship frequently sailed the Baltic Sea and the English coast. In the Second World War, the Mars was part of the large operation in Dunkirk, that saw 592 people evacuated from France to England by the English army.
She was rebuilt for sailing as a charter ship and a floating holiday home in 1996. Skipper Jan Velthuis, artist and current owner of the Mars, loves to sail you to the very best spots on the Wadden Sea, Lake IJssel and the Frisian Lakes.
A high and closed railing make the Mars an ideal choice when going on a sailing trip with small children. The enthusiastic and skilled crew take great pleasure in teaching you all there is to know about setting the sails, navigating and of course sailing the ship.
To shield from rain and sun, the spacious on deck seating area can be covered with a tent. Below deck, the homely day room with cherry wood and copper elements, offers a wonderful view outside, to enjoy throughout the whole trip. Central heating keeps the temperature on a pleasant high and a stereo set, cd-player and games are available for use.
The open kitchen is equipped with all necessary cooking utensils, such as pans, glasses, plates, cutlery, a 6 burner stove, an oven, a fridge and 2 coffee machines (filtre 4). Another great feature is the bar, from which you can even tap your own cold beer!
All 13 comfortable cabins have their own sink with hot and cold running water, central heating and sufficient storage room.
Aboard the Mars you will find a total of 3 toilets and 3 showers.
All cabins with running water, all cabins with central heating.
