Originally designed as a cargo ship, the Boekanier was built in 1901 in Woubrugge. After a long career in transport, 1990 saw her sail a new path as a charter ship.
With UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea, Lake IJssel and the Frisian Lakes as her sailing grounds, the Boekanier promises an unforgettable sailing trip and wonderful memories!
On deck, you will always find a nice place to sit down and enjoy the magnificent view over the sea or lake.
Long benches invite you to sit down and relax, while the salty wind breezes through your hair. High railing goes all around the ship’s deck and wide gangways make it a great choice for those who travel with small children.
The homely day room below deck offers a stereo set, a television, a DVD-player and an on board library. In order to set sail with guests in every season, central heating ensures a pleasant temperature below deck.
The galley is fitted with a 6-burner stove, an oven, a fridge, a freezer, a coffee machine and everything you need to make your own meals. Besides pots and pans, the kitchen provides in sufficient plates, glasses and cutlery.
To add to the trip, you will find a beer tap in the ship’s kitchen. Kegs of beer can be ordered beforehand and will be brought to the ship prior to departure.
Should you not feel like making dinner, simply light the barbecue on deck!
All cabins have their own sink, central heating and a small reading light.
The comfortable bunk beds are made with a mattress cover and a pillow with pillow case, you only have to bring a sleeping bag or rent a duvet at Rederij Vooruit.
